Tested the hard drive with CrystalDiskInfo 7.8.0 TOSHIBA MK5055GSX 500.1 GB Health Good This hard drive as a replacement for a "not good" hard drive in a used Dell Latitude I plan to use bought recently. I use Acronis True Image for cloning. It is recommended to insert the new drive into the laptop first and connect the old drive via USB. Otherwise, you will not be able to boot from the newly cloned disk because Acronis True Image will apply the boot fix to the new disk and configure the target disk's boot options to boot from USB. When the new drive is in the laptop, the boot options are automatically adjusted to boot from the internal drive. Therefore, disk trays cannot be used for target drives. For example, if you have the target disk (i.e. the new drive you want to clone to and boot from) in a bay and not physically in the laptop, the target disk will not boot after cloning. There are more cloning programs to choose from such as Clonezilla or . Macrium Reflect 7 are free.1. Clonezilla is a free imaging and cloning software.2. Acronis Disk Director 12 is a disk cloning suite for Windows3 only. EaseUS Todo Backup 11.0 is a handy disk cloning software that offers more options than most. Macrium Reflect 7 is free cloning software for home and business. And not only.
