Review on Maydear Cross Stitch Kits: Owl with Scarf - Beginner's DIY Embroidery Starter Kit, Stamped, 11CT, 3 Strands, 9.4×11 inch by Barbara Simmons

This pattern and other patterns from Maydear are so cute, in contrast to the cute "cute" patterns from other companies. But what good is a sweet if you can't collect it? I haven't embroidered since elementary school and decided to order a beginner kit. After 10 hours of trying to insert and remove the needle and noting how much thread was missing to buy more, the scarf was only half done. I tried to be proud but it was lumpy. (Experienced embroiderers can see where this is headed.) I called my roommate to check on my owl. You immediately saw what was wrong: I didn't separate the thread. Hence the lack of thread, needle issues and lumpy texture! Nowhere in the instructions does it say to cut the thread. But it says "newbie" here, so it was imperative for them to provide instructions for beginners. It's too thick to unzip, so I guess I wasted $17 that should go in the trash. And I really liked this owl pattern, that really sucks! I can't patronize the company that got me into this, so I have to go through sugary samples. Curses.
