Bought to use a shovel to dig a trench which turned out to be child's play. So it sat in my box for 2 years until the day I really needed it. That works great. This dry, compacted clay with numerous fist-sized pieces of stone and gravel was not suitable for this bit. Let me give you an idea of how hard the ground was - I couldn't dig under the sod to remove it so I could repair the ditch when I was done; I just picked up the small pieces with a shovel. I inserted this bit and dug 25 feet by 14 inches deep to light the drain in about 20 minutes. It took longer to clear the ditch with a shovel. One caveat, this is a 16 inch model and I now realize I should have gone with the 30 inch model. It sits at just the right height so your back hurts a little when you stand to use it. I was going to use it for 24" deep electrical trenches, but I think a different length would help and use both. 30 is too long if you're on your knees and just starting out, 16 is too short if the trench is deep is. If you are trying to make a choice, buy first then sell would be my advice. After looking it up it seems they no longer make 24" or 30" versions of these, so I would go with an SDS Plus adapter and one of the 19" versions of this blade that come with SDS Plus. Should give you about 25" of range.
