As always, K&N make a good product and it shows in the final installation. I only wish the foam block had been mentioned in the product description. K&N says you don't need a filter foam block, but they sell it anyway. It seems to be a common problem with this filter that the Check Engine light comes on because the EGR systems are detecting too much air. the foam block clearly prevents this error. With so much discussion about this error, using a foam block doesn't seem difficult to me if you want to avoid a trip to the dealership and an hourly diagnostic fee associated with a visit. If there is a problem with some engines with a non-working foam block, I think there is a very good chance this is happening to my engine. why take the risk This filter is intended to be sold with and without a foam block, with a full explanation of why the foam block is being offered.
