I bought this to tow a kayak in the ranger. This extender is so cool. Very durable. When I first got it I stood on the end and hopped around, no problem. I'm a tall man (the term is "nurse") and I had no qualms about being rude to him. Makes loading and unloading the kayak very easy. I have a heavy 12 foot and I have towed a 15 inch. No problems with one or the other. It could support 16ft lumber, although I'm not sure how much a CG truck will like it, but I'm sure it will hold up. I don't care about normal signs of use. Might be a problem if you're sea fishing, but paint can't fix anything. And the little flag they give you is pretty cheap. I mean it works but after hundreds of miles it shows its age. I definitely recommend it. Several strangers asked me about it.
