I don't really NEED a panoramic helmet but I thought it was a cool innovation and for the price I wanted to try it. There were times when I thought a larger viewing area would be nice and not as claustrophobic as it is. This vantage point is huge! In theory, I could just leave this hood open while working for hours and it wouldn't bother me. Here's the rub: the auto-dimming electronic flash. If you're working outdoors, it will highlight the slightest glare or sunlight anywhere in the field of view. Every time I looked at my work space, it seemed to be getting dark. What was annoying. I tried adjusting the sensitivity and ended up messing around with all the controls. Nothing helped. I had to switch to another helmet which worked great in these outdoor conditions. I expect this helmet to work well in an indoor shop with regular desk workspaces and constant lighting. May be. But I wouldn't take this thing if you plan on working outdoors in weird positions and dynamic lighting, like under a car or trailer. That's my best guess.
