Of course bought for puree. It will probably crush or mix anything you have, it's really strong. I wanted the silicone coated end to not scratch my stainless steel mixing bowls and reduce metal-on-metal rattling while I was working. I chose this particular version from several similar options, mainly due to the reasonable price for a rarely used item. Overall I can't say it performs any better than another similar item but I was pleased with the quality given the low price. It's really effective. Runs quietly when used in a metal bowl. And it doesn't take up much space at all (I just keep it in the pot).
