For the primary heating of my 36 x 18 snake terrarium I have a 100 watt radiant heater on a thermostat. I then use the daylight lamp on the timer in coordination with this to provide UVA and UVB rays for my reptile's health and sleep cycle. When I first received it it had a small chip so I contacted Zoo Med and they told me it was cosmetic only and would have no effect or danger. Months have passed and it still works as it should. This lamp provides almost enough heat for the lowest level of my terrarium to keep it at 88 degrees. If your application is as big or larger than mine I would recommend 150w.
