Review on Chefs Planet 130 Multipurpose Filter by Hannah Curi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for butter and preserves and more.

I bought this for the oil filter function and it does it exceptionally well. We use fryers a few times a week and strain about two gallons with each use. This filter catches dirt much better than conventional kitchen filters and thus extends the life of the oil. The small funnel supplied is particularly useful for this function as it allows the oil to be returned to the container it was in. We now get two more weeks of fryer oil (six total) than before, and sometimes a little more. The gray funnel screws onto a standard wide-mouth tin can size. Compared to a normal can hopper, this hopper has twice the capacity and a feed opening. This is especially useful for packing jars of larger items like whole stewed tomatoes, whole cucumbers, peaches, apples, etc. without crushing them. Since it is screwed onto the can, it remains very stable. The small red detachable funnel is ideal for filling bottles (e.g. 2 liter soda bottles) as well as a plastic jug with cooking oil. The extra fine sieve is also suitable for straining vinegar and oils. Perfect for making my now famous Blackberry Vinegar Mulled Wine and my very hot Thai Chili Oil without leaving any particles in my last glass. The price seems too high, but the quality and functionality are worth it. Our savings on vegetable oil will recoup the cost in just a few months. Peanut butter isn't cheap. Our opinion is "five stars plus" for what it is and everything else that can be. A very good unitasker became a multitasker.
