Good to have if you carry 35 tires or more.
Although the Wrangler JL's new tailgate is made from 1/4-inch magnesium alloy and is very strong, Jeep recommends it if you carry larger tires over 85#. You can do without it, but why take the risk? Add a length of PVC pipe and a chair leg to the rubber bumper to fill the gap created by the offset of the new wheels. Good product and good price at Revain.
