Good for beginners but very small balls!

Hello! Knitting beginners here. I bought this set because it seems to have everything you need to get started. The hooks are ok but the yarn is very small! They are barely enough for a square of 6 * 6 single crochet. I made the bag about 1.5ft wide but it took 5 bundles of yarn to make it (hdc with a 5.5 crochet hook). If you're looking for a wide range of thread colors but for smaller projects, this set is great. Otherwise,
