I'm new to Portuguese knitting so I didn't want to invest a lot in pins. These inexpensive needles are strong and don't pull on my clothes. I was concerned that different yarn counts would be a problem, but I've used them with everything from sock yarn to very bulky yarn and they've worked great. Now I switched to the Portuguese knitting method.
