Review on πŸ“Š Enhanced EXTECH MO280 Pinless Moisture Meter for Accurate Readings by Trey Dikici

Great and Often Overlooked Product

I purchased this product when a home inspection revealed multiple moisture issues in the home I was planning to purchase. The house was plastered and there were questions as to whether the plaster was properly applied and maintained. Because the plaster is waterproof, the problem is that moisture can get behind the plaster and the underlying woodwork will rot over time. It is best to measure the moisture content of the structure at the back through the inner wall at problem areas such as window corners. . Indeed, when we asked an experienced plaster contractor to inspect these areas, water became trapped behind the plaster and quietly rotted some of the load-bearing wood components. Needless to say, we decided against buying a home and Extech saved us tens of thousands of dollars on future renovations. The device itself is quite simple and easy to use. You simply point it at the object and the meter will display the humidity. Contents. I can't calibrate it so I'm not sure how accurate it is, but usually the specific number isn't as important as the trend ("this corner is wetter than this other corner"). Unlike most pin gauges which require physical contact, there is no need to drill holes etc - just point and read. No special skills required - insert batteries and in a few moments you will be able to take measurements. Absolutely recommendable for this price!
