Review on Myard PNP114040 4X4 Post Base Cover Skirt Flange With Screws For Deck Porch Handrail Railing Support Trim Anchor (Qty 1, Black) by Adam Webbie

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Really need to be installed on new construction

I thought I could slip these onto the posts from the bottom, as they were detached from the deck at the bottom, but not the top.the posts that is.The flare made it impossible to slip these on due to the framing under the deck boards. It's too bad as the deck post bottoms are pretty chewed up from having replaced all the deck boards/having to remove the nails from the post bottoms to slide the deck boards out and then back in underneath them. The posts are chewed up/damaged for the first 4" or so from the bottom, so I know these would have coveredthat damage.IF they made a split version of these, that would be ideal, at least for my situation.A Nice Touch:They include stainless steel screws that are head-painted to match the skirts.Seems like a high quality plastic that ought to last for a long time. These are internally reinforced, so they are NOT flimsy at all.Definitely worth the money. It's going to BUG ME that I couldn't use them, but it would have meant basically dis-assembling the top cover, whichwould have been a nightmare.

Pros
  • ▼ Fits a nominal standard 4"x 4" post (actual 3.5"x 3.5" dry post on market). ▼ Sanding / trimming may be required depending on post type and little size error.★ POST HEIGHT LIMIT: 60" (5-feet), NOT for roof support ★
Cons
  • May not be able to handle high levels of foot traffic
