Use a real 4x4 post.make sure its 3.5×3.5.

These were great for our deck restoration.they made post installs a breeze and were surprisingly sturdy.beats dropping through to the hoist and looks great with the lighted solar post caps from home depot. NOTE* you must use a true 4x4 (3.5"x3.5") post.I had to return the ones from home depot.they were anywhere from 3-1/8" to 3-1/4" so they did not fit snug in the base.

I love these mounts!

These things are great! We used them for railing around a pool, in between stone columns. Each section is a stand alone 6’ section and they are very sturdy. I used 1 3/4” tapcons into the concrete deck The treated 4x4s were very wet and I thought I was going to have to trim them down for them to fit, but I just flipped it around and the other end fit perfectly. I think the center of the posts were not as swollen as the ends.

3.5 post a must , wet lumber not good fit

Worked great ,used on concrete porch ,be sure the post is 3.5 " square , worth the price ,couldn’t find anything at the big box stores to compare, ordered three more for another project

Sturdy and Worth it

These things are great, easy to install, sturdy and dress up the steps I built for our travel trailer, all screws are supplied and also of good quality. No fitment issues, got the post caps and 2x4 caps also. Don't hesitate, good quality and a big time saver and actually a joy to work with.

Sturdy and fit well

Not finished with my deck yet, but the rails are secure. I did not have to use a sander for any of my 4x4 posts (my choice). I used a rubber mallet to softly knock them in place from the bottom. If you choose not to use that method (corners can crack if not careful) then you could easily sand one side down in a couple minutes to fit. Sturdy and look nice.

  • They would work better if wood was cut perfectly 4" by 4 ", but we need to trim the wood to fit.

Nice looking product.

Like the finished look. Better quality than cheap big box products. Gives a finished look. Placement on 6 inch decking needs to be thought out. Know where to place these before screwing down deck. Worked well for me. Just plan ahead.Is nice and sturdy with a taller profile. Screws included was a pleasant surprise to our installation help.

Simple but high end look

These were very easy to install. I put a chunk of 2x8 under each one and used longer screws and they are very sturdy. If the 4x4 isn't fitting be sure to plane it down some or it will split the plastic. Would definatley recommend. Gave my deck a very high end look for little cost.

I was skeptical about these. Let me just say I'm very pleased and shocked how sturdy these are. Great product I would not hesitate to purchase again.

Work great, look great

These installed very easy. I did have to use an electric hand planer to plane down 4x4s, truly wasn’t a big deal. In the reviews others mentioned screws stripping, I had 0 screws strip, all the screws seemed heavy duty. They went together very easy, I would absolutely use again

Worth the money on my review.

My photo looks sideways when i wrote this so I'll check to see if it posts that way. Very easy to install IF IT A TRUE 3.5 X3.5. I found it easiest to use these by sliding the base from the top of the post down, not very easy to use the way its supposed to go on if the post is too wide. Fairly sturdy, i wouldn't recommend leaning with alot of weight against the rail but i will buy these again.

Really need to be installed on new construction

I thought I could slip these onto the posts from the bottom, as they were detached from the deck at the bottom, but not the top.the posts that is.The flare made it impossible to slip these on due to the framing under the deck boards.It's too bad as the deck post bottoms are pretty chewed up from having replaced all the deck boards/having to remove the nails from the post bottoms to slide the deck boards out and then back in underneath them.The posts are chewed up/damaged for the first 4" or so…

This post base cover was like made to order.

Purchased this post base cover for the finishing touch to my mailbox installation. Could not find anything at the local home inprovement store, but got a idea to check amazon and found just what I needed to finish my project. Also purchased a can of krylon white primer & paint and gave it two coats of paint along with the included screws that came with the base cover. Included 3 pictures of the finished project.
