Review on DROK 110V 220V Converter Adjustable Transformer by Patrick Brinson

Clear enough to use with sound

I'm always a bit hesitant to use SMPs with sound. In some cases, the switching frequency is in the audible range, or the output filtering is insufficient, or both. Not so with this device. It's clean enough to power a TPA3255 based amplifier. No switching frequency. oozes into the tone and plenty of juice to spice up the amp. It's about half a volt off, at least according to my voltmeter. So I dial it only about half a volt above the target voltage. It's not as easy to set the voltage accurately as you would expect with a one-turn potentiometer. It would be a lot easier if they used a multiturn trimmer. But for the price I'm very happy with it.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • So-so
