I have been using the lens for more than two years on the Nikon D7100 camera. In general, the lens is not bad, a fairly high-quality picture starting from aperture 2.8, but it is better to use 4.0-8.0, although the bokeh will no longer be the same as on a more open one. Small and vignetting with chromatic aberrations. Objectively, aperture 1.4 seems more like a marketing ploy than a real need. In fact, 50 mm 1.4G is in no way inferior to 50 mm 1.8G, and for a simple amateur photographer this is enough + the difference in cost will remain in the wallet. Autofocus is not fast-firing, but itβs stupid to demand better performance from a far from the most expensive lens, however, for those who donβt like it, there is a 50 mm 1.4D version - it wins in autofocus, but loses in quality at open apertures (which are far from ideal anyway) + you need to have a camera with a "screwdriver", otherwise the lens will not be autofocus. It is worth remembering that on KROP the focal length turns into 75 mm, which is quite convenient for working on the street and in the studio, but this does not turn the "fifty kopeck" into a portrait lens, the visual perception of the face is not the same; if you compare 50 mm 1.4G and 85mm 1.8G (the difference in price is not so big), it becomes immediately clear: how much 85 mm is larger than 50 mm, so much better does it produce a picture at all apertures (with the exception of 5.6-8.0, there + // - parity), although the comparison is exaggerated, it is a fact + 85 mm gives a stronger bokeh (if necessary). Since the prime is inexpensive, there are enough copies on our market with front / back focus, crooked autofocus, lens defects, etc., you should test the lens more thoroughly before buying to avoid problems in the future. As a result, we have: a fairly versatile lens for sane money, with good quality of sharpness / color reproduction, but most users should consider 50 mm 1.8G, because "if there is no difference, then why pay more?".
