Gothic cool for your home

Beautiful and solid, this cast iron vampire bat knocker from Design Toscano makes a unique impression on incoming guests. First, it's a BIG hammer. Its height is 7 inches. This is a vampire bat hanging upside down and looks exactly like the picture. It's made of cast iron, so it's heavy (2 lbs) and makes a loud bang, especially when you hit the included convex punch handle. has a bronze and gold finish and has an antique, gothic look. The casting is well done and slightly uneven with a few pits here and there adding an antique look. No mounting hardware is included so you will need two screws to attach the hammer itself and another screw for the firing pin handle. The top of the screw will be visible, so I suggest black screws for a better look. Mounting the firing pin grip is another story. There is no installation guide included, so you may not be able to figure out how to install it. This requires a double ended screw (often referred to as a lag screw). Because of the way it's made, you really can't install it with tape. Construction glue, like liquid nails, but that would be messy. Alternatively, you don't need to mount the hasp at all as the hammer will swing back far enough to hit your door. However, the knock button protects your door and makes the knocking louder, so I'll install it when I get to the hardware store to find the right size anchor. If you have a metal door I would suggest installing it on a wooden door. Molding next to the door as you really don't want to drill holes in a metal door. I am very happy with it as I have an old house and it looks great. It doesn't look like Halloween at all, although it will definitely be cool on Halloween.

Pros
