Review on Kodak P811BK Personal Negative Scanner by Payton Luna

Revainrating 5 out of 5

AMAZING AND PORTABLE Best among scanners

The scanner exceeded all my expectations. 115 photos per hour at 600 dpi. The scans look fantastic. The software's "Auto-Correct" feature works as well as, if not better than, my expensive photo software. All you have to do is feed this thing photos and it will do the rest. I wanted a scanner that didn't take up a lot of space, was portable when needed, and was fast. This scanner works with photos up to 8 1/2 x 11. It scans negatives and even includes an envelope so you can easily insert small photos. It measures approximately 11 inches long, 3 inches front to back and approximately 2 inches high. Photos can be saved to the SD card supplied with the scanner or directly to your PC's hard drive. I haven't had any issues with lines in my photos as others have reported. I scanned more than 500 photos with this scanner before realizing that the little thing that looked like a flash drive was a roller cleaner. I used it, but there was no particular need for it. In my free time I was able to scan almost 800 family photos in about 8 hours. The only problem I've had with the scanner is that it stops scanning after 20 or more photos, ie it just won't load another photo. Inside. All I had to do was turn off the device, wait about 30 seconds and turn it back on. After about 2 minutes I was back to scanning - NO BIG DEAL! Please note that this issue has only occurred a few times. Other times, I've been able to scan 100+ photos with no issues. He just kept scanning while I fed him pictures. I've had flatbed scanners in the past and found it frustrating having to lift the lid, align images, keep the glass clean and wait for the lamp to turn on. warm up etc. This little scanner takes away all that hassle and lets you do what you have to do. In addition, it does not get hot like a normal flatbed scanner. Yes, it only scans in JPG format, but if you have Adobe Pro software, you can easily convert JPG files to PDF files. *(I installed this scanner on HP dv7 laptop (i7 processor), Windows 7, 64-bit platform, Intel quad-core processor, 6GB RAM, 700GB hard drive, the speed may vary at the Installation on other devices may vary.) highly recommended!
