Review on πŸ” Extech CB10 Circuit Breaker Finder: Locate Fuses/Breakers, Test Receptacles and GFCI Circuits by Matthew Seamster

The sensitivity needs to be worked on.

I am using this to help my son figure out the wiring in his new, well, OLD house they just bought. For some reason, sometimes 1970s wiring isn't quite what you'd expect. How have electrical codes changed, huh? Anyway, we got this unit and went in search of circuit breakers. It takes quite a while to adjust the sensitivity to determine the actual switch, not four or five. We found the transmitter part very useful and found that many of the original circuits were missing the ground wire. So we will replace some of them with GFCI bushings and label them according to the code. If only this device had a good way to calibrate the receiver alongside the transmitter, that would be great. It works, but you have to be patient.

Pros
  • Variable sensitivity setting to locate the correct circuit breaker
Cons
  • Vulgarity
