Cuts through brick like butter

I needed this drill bit (1.75 inch) to cut a hole in my brick wall, about 8 inch concrete type brick. I cut the hole dry and was pleasantly surprised to feel the bit dig into the brick and sink into the hole fairly quickly as I applied firm, even pressure. Every inch or so I backed up the drill bit, gouging out the drilled core, and then continued drilling. About halfway through the wall I used a masonry bit to drill a 3/16" hole through the center of the hole on the other side of the wall and then finished on the other side (the bit wasn't long enough and I did (not I have an extension adapter so I needed an exact starting point on the other side) so the holes on each side line up. The tines were intact, but the bits of carbide (or whatever they were) were still there. Even the gray paint/coating on the particles was still there. I don't have a pilot drill. It was a bit tricky to drill the hole without a jig or template, not possible in the limited space I had to work with. Also, I highly recommend it.

Pros
  • Dry drilling without water, using water for long periods of time
Cons
  • Crumpled
