Ordered to bring a sluggish old laptop back to life. An inexpensive way to extend the life of an old car for around $20. The laptop was an HP DV-8000 (DV8110US) model with Windows XP Home 32-bit and the original 512 MB of RAM. The laptop has not been used for about 7 years. It was almost impossible to use, it was very slow to start and open programs due to lack of memory. This 2GB of memory maximized the laptop's RAM and made it usable again. Just install, run immediately and the BIOS recognized the full 2GB. I'll probably install a lighter version of Linux in a dual-boot scenario that performs better than Windows on older hardware because it uses fewer system resources.
