This is a good wok burner but it only works on my gas burners. If I put it big end up the wok will rest on the center of the burner instead of the ring and will be very wobbly. Not a great situation. But if you have a burner other than a standard gas stove, it can work on either side. My son tied the ring to our burner to keep it from slipping no matter how he ate fried rice or fried veggies. If we want a regular burner we just switch front left to back right and that's fine, but we can put larger pots or pans on the wok ring if we want. Actually, it serves a purpose. When I put a large pot on high heat, the fire rises up the sides of the pot and all the heat escapes, making the pot difficult to boil. With the ring, even at high temperatures, the fire stays UNDER large pots and actually boils water much faster.
