Larger options required

This item is not big enough for my 14 inch wok. It should still be about 1/2 inch in diameter to allow the center of the wok to rest on the glass top

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Almost everything available

Will not fit 14 " wok

I bought this to work with a 14" wok. I found the diameter to be too small to place it properly. I also found it too bright and slipped off the burner grate. May fit smaller woks.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Out of style

Does what it's supposed to do

I tried removing the sticker with soap and water but it didn't work. The sticker came off when using the ring. I washed the oil off the wok, wiped it off with paper towels, and heated the wok over high heat to burn off any remaining water. The ring was perfect for this, then I saw a burnt sticker under the grille when I was done.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Expensive

Works but does not fit the purpose of the wok

This item is suitable for holding a round bottom wok on a handy gas burner BUT there is no point in having a wok. If you can get a conical flame but using this tool it will block the flame's movement on the sides of the wok. By not letting the fire consume the wok, you've just made yourself a regular frying pan, because now the wok isn't a wok anymore. You want the flame to reach the bottom of the wok and rise up the sides.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Many things

Classic? may be. Good design? NO

Whirlpool W10216179 Wok ring 6 holes on the sides and a good seal between the wok and the ring easily extinguishes the flame even on a low flame. I tried it on a thick wok and it barely reached cooking temperature. Not what you want when frying! I then ordered Whirlpool Whirlpool Cast Iron Wok Ring W10216179 Wok Ring which worked great and with the flame spreader removed gave me a VERY HOT wok and reduced the flame to medium.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • No Automatic

light material. Rather thin. Alone for many years.

Lightweight material. Rather thin. I had one many years ago, solidly made, but got lost when moving. This one does the job and time will tell how durable it is. Just downgraded from 3 to 1 star. I put it aside after purchasing it and used it yesterday. The silver finish is lacquer! It burned and released possibly toxic fumes. I was surprised that the manufacturer actually applied paint to a product that was intended to be used on a stovetop over a fire. Unbelievable. More paint was peeling off…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Minor issues

Nice wok ring! cookware compatible

This is a good wok burner but it only works on my gas burners. If I put it big end up the wok will rest on the center of the burner instead of the ring and will be very wobbly. Not a great situation. But if you have a burner other than a standard gas stove, it can work on either side. My son tied the ring to our burner to keep it from slipping no matter how he ate fried rice or fried veggies. If we want a regular burner we just switch front left to back right and that's fine, but we can put…

Pros
  • A comment
Cons
  • Hard to say

The product does what it is supposed to and is very durable. However, I have two main concerns (warmth and stability). HEAT: For normal stoves, this wok grate is too high and consequently lowers the temperature of the wok as the flame cannot even reach the wok itself. When I'm at full speed now, it's more like I'm a little above average. If you have a traditional high flame gas burner, this product will not have this problem. But for those cooking on a conventional or induction hob, your wok…

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Not everything fits
