Review on πŸ”© Smart Bit Pre Drilling Countersinking Tool - Starborn BDA141 by James Salem

Essential tool for me!

hello. First, I build decks for life. I just finished 1100 square feet. Deck update last week. The previous deck was composite deck and the joists were 12 inches on center. The new patio I installed was 13/16 inches. also known as "iron wood", all holes must be countersunk and drilled through the decking board. This smart bat is an essential tool in my arsenal. I installed about 5100 +/- stainless steel screws on this deck. I have 4 old smart bits and ordered a new one and a pack of 5 extra bits for this project. The deck was 11 years old and as you can imagine the 2 x 12 inch joists were very dry. This countersink is intended for drilling and countersinking vertical holes only. I use a separate countersink for corner holes. Drill, it cannot be driven into wood. at least not in ip. Sometimes I had to drill 1/2" and then pull out the bit to clear it and then finish drilling and countersinking the hole. ipe is very hard and dulls sharp blades very quickly. After a few hundred holes the countersunk ones became Holes frayed. not a problem as the entire deck is sanded and then varnished. I'm telling you I broke all 7 bits I had for this project. sometimes I encountered a knot or the remains of a broken deck propeller. and user error, which I acknowledge. ha ha! I also use this racquet on cedar board edges to prevent splitting. I will continue to buy and use this product as long as I build decks. Hope this helps with your next project!
