Review on Lisle 63600 Oil Filter Removal Tool - πŸ”§ Made in the USA, Fits Filters 2-1/2 to 3-1/8 Inches by Kevin Ayala

He removed the crushed and stuck oil filter inside the Onan generator set.

When I changed the fuel and oil filters on my van including the Onan diesel generator set last year, I had a problem with the Fram replacement oil filter on the generator set leaking. I've never had this before and had to tighten the filter with a wrench to stop the leak. It is located under the generator in a small secluded compartment in a horizontal position, and access and visibility are difficult. When it came to the routine filter change this year, the Fram wouldn't budge, which of course I blamed on the Fram filter. I've used standard box wrenches, an open-end wrench, and pliers, and all that happened was they slipped around the filter and crushed and punctured it. I went to O'Reilly and they had nothing else. When I looked in Revain I found 2 wrenches, they are Lisle and Craftsman. Lisle arrived first so I can't comment on Craftsman. There is about 1" of clearance between the base of the filter and the side wall of the compartment, but the Lisle and my 3/8" ratchet wrench barely fit in. As I turned the ratchet wrench, Lisle took a puff and grabbed the filter by one of its crushed sides, and after about a minute I removed the filter. When removing the filter, the old, broken and dented rubber ring from the previous oil filter came with it, which must have been left on the filter bracket from last year's filter change! It was stuck to the base of the filter holder and I didn't notice that the oil filter hadn't come loose this year. It wasn't the fault of the Fram filter, it was me. There are several lessons to be learned here. I have a box full of filter keys and this one is definitely in it.
