Review on 🔧 28 II Rugged Fluke Digital Multimeter by John Ruelas

I have not been able to get more than $100 off this price at any of the three industrial suppliers that my employer regularly purchases from. When I bought this gauge for personal use, I bought it from North Coast Electric through Revain. Unfortunately the first meter I received was dead on arrival. It showed a low battery and no voltage or even read continuity correctly (it showed continuity even with the test leads disconnected). I put in new Duracell batteries and there was no change so I called North Coast Electric who gave me an RMA and suggested I call Fluke before sending it back in case Fluke wanted to take care of it. Fluke called it an "obvious factory defect" and advised me to return it. North Coast Electric sent a new unit that works great and reimbursed the return postage. The only disappointment was that I paid tax twice for shipping to Canada, but it was still much better than even the corporate discounts from our industrial suppliers who said the price was under their cost. As far as the gauge goes, Fluke makes a great product. I compared the gauges using the product selection guide on the Fluke website before selecting this gauge as the best feature pack for my needs (stand alone, vehicle handling, industrial automation and occasional electronics). The 87V was another gauge I seriously considered. In the end I went with this meter - a more reliable option with IP67 rating etc. and not the slight advantage of 87V in DC resolution (maybe something else I missed but that's what struck me ). I've used Fluke test tools at work, so this test tool was very familiar to me and I like to have it on hand for projects at home. If I had to buy another one I would buy the same one from the same place.
