These connectors are designed for very thin #18 wires and specifically lightning cables. They work by cutting the end of the cable, pressing the end into a pocket at the end of the connector body, and then pressing the cable against metal pins that pierce the insulation and connect to the conductors. There is a very strong lid that works great. This is a good system if you have the right type of zipper. After two out of three failed to connect to the #18 cable I was using, I threw away the entire batch.
