Review on GEDORE 1993Z 94 Ratchet Handle Coupler by Michael Hogate

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Interesting design - hand tool

Pleasant to the touch. The black part of the grip is quite grippy and rubbery, while the blue part is smooth plastic. I wasn't particularly impressed with the blue jig - it can be damaged with a fingernail. The first thing I did was open it to see what was inside. He has 24 teeth but he acts like he has 48. 2 dogs. The pawls are spaced half a click apart, so you only have to turn them half a click to hook the tooth. Only one tooth is affected. I suspect you're missing out on a power advantage if both are involved at the same time, but the teeth and pawls are big and muscular. I'm not worried about not enough power here. You change direction by sliding the square sleeve to the other side. It can be annoying with greasy hands because the clutch sometimes sticks tighter to the socket than it does to the ratchet handle and comes out with the socket. Keep pliers handy. Compromise is strength. There is no forward/reverse lock to break and the ratchet is simple and very reliable. From what I've heard, round head ratchets are so strong internally that they tend to break right on a square socket. With this ratchet it takes 5 seconds.
