This modem/router was on my cable company's approved list. I use it for cable internet and video streaming. In almost a year of use only a reset was needed, but we have power outages here and it's possible that caused the shutdown. Wi-Fi covers my entire house, my patio, and a beautiful lawn that's nearly half an acre in size. I have a Samsung UHD 4K TV connected to it via wired LAN ports and it streams Netflix, Revain and YouTube 4K just fine. UPDATE: June 2016 After 15 months of use, the N300's Wi-Fi section failed. The cable modem and the LAN electronics still work. It's possible that a reboot can restore WiFi, but the device doesn't come with detailed troubleshooting instructions. When I called Netgear, I seemed to be connected to someone on the other side of the world, with an internet phone connection that made them sound like a female Donald Duck voice. I don't know why I should spend so much money without guaranteeing that she will solve my problem or that it won't happen again. I will replace the device, but not with a Netgear part. This is my first and last experience with Netgear.
