Review on πŸ’¨ NETGEAR Powerline 500Mbps 2-Port Adapter - Starter Kit (XAVB5602): Boost Your Home Network Speed with this High-Performance Adapter by Ronnie Polk

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It helped in our house but then I bought another

I bought two of these. Our L-shaped house only had 50% WiFi coverage. This extended the range of our master bedroom. However, I have bought a second one for another house and am lowering my rating. The device is not working. If I got a replacement I think it would work just as well as the first one. But Netgear support is difficult or impossible to work with. I first spoke to a support rep who said this was a common issue and I should get a warranty replacement from the store. He didn't offer to do it himself, which perhaps I should have insisted on. I told the store (on Revain) what the Netgear rep said, but they told me to get a replacement from Netgear. But Netgear won't replace it with a 6-month service contract, which costs more than the device itself, without my approval. They don't care that a support rep found it faulty. I've spent hours setting it up and a few more hours working with Netgear (a lot of the work is on hold). So now my rating is 1st star. About four years later: Still with only one of two working devices, I had to reconfigure the working one for the new Comcast router. Others must have done the same. Although it wasn't obvious, in the end I really just had to update the WiFi password. The guide I downloaded didn't help at all. I've worked through all possible combinations of steps, but always ended up failing. I'm pretty used to debugging systems and finally found a solution, but it went beyond anything mentioned in the manual. While I'm happy I found a solution, I don't want other people trying to find it.
