I bought a medium sized strap that didn't fit (too small). I then bought a large size which seems made for a compact dog breed that doesn't even exist! Obviously it was not enough! I have a schnauzer yorkshire terrier mix that weighs 24 pounds. He must not have a collar around his neck. The part that goes under his stomach is adjustable to fit his waist size. However, the abdominal extension that he is connected to to keep him in place runs the full length of his body and is so short that I can't imagine it would fit every dog! my dog! After buying the harness, I first had to buy a dog collar in the same color as the harnesses. I then unbuttoned the seams and sewed on the 5" extension I cut from the dog collar. I then sewed a loop to the remaining end for the buckle to go through so he can wear it around his stomach for him to wear can actually wear!It's not worth it!
