Motorola SURFboard SB5120 for Cox Cable Internet

I received this Motorola SURFboard SB5120 cable modem for use with Cox Cable Internet. I didn't want to buy it from Cox and instead looked for a used one from Revain and bought it for $19. And it works fine. I connected it to a Netgear wireless router. It all works great whether I'm connecting via an Ethernet cable for a wired connection or via Wi-Fi for a wireless connection. When I spoke to people at Cox 800 to give them the serial numbers of this cable modem, they had to make sure the cable modem I received wasn't stolen because I bought it from a third party on Revain. Non-stolen property. The previous owner of the cable modem simply stopped using cable Internet. So Cox cleaned my cable modem and configured it for internet use. Great modem, works great. Got it at a cheap price. So I'm happy thanks to Revain. Update May 11, 2010: For the record, I purchased this cable modem in November 2008. I then published my review (paragraph above) in February. 2009. It is now May 2010 as I write this supplement. This SB5120 cable modem has worked fine for me. Knock on wood. The only "problem" I had was having to reboot my Netgear wireless router from time to time. It doesn't happen often, but it's to be expected. And that's just the router. The modem worked fine. If that modem ever fails I'll probably consider buying another cheap used SB5120 (and then I'll have to call Cox and swap out modems). I'm still happy with this Motorola SURFboard SB5120 cable modem.
