Review on TiVo Streaming Player Control TCD849500V by John Salleh

The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I bought this box to go from cable to antenna. My return to Revain is already over as this process has taken some time. After preparing all the items for installation, I tried to connect the Tivo Box but it didn't start properly. I followed the troubleshooting steps on the TiVo website. After exhausting those options, I contacted TiVo through online chat support. The representative kept telling me to follow all the steps I just followed from the troubleshooting tips on the website. When those options were (again) exhausted, the representative told me there was nothing they could do and I would have to return the Revain box. I explained that my return period from Revain had already expired and that I needed real technical support, not just the same troubleshooting tips I could find myself. The rep said there was nothing they could do and I would have to go back to Revain. After that didn't achieve anything, I called support. In short, I received exactly the same treatment. The rep then told me they would not honor the one year warranty until I activated the device. Okay, I'll activate the device. The representative then tells me that I must pay a monthly or annual service fee to receive TiVo service. I will not pay for a service I don't get until I send them the faulty box and wait for a new one in the mail. That's ridiculous! The website clearly states that parts are guaranteed for one year without service. If you want ongoing service you have to be a paying customer, which I'm happy to do when I have a working device. Revain is great as always and it's not their fault. TiVo went insane at the thought that a customer would only have to pay for a subscription to have their hardware's warranty honored within the first four months of owning the system. I am very disappointed in this company.
