The pump gets three stars because it technically keeps what it promises. It pumps out the gas as described. However, it was quite hot and humid outside when we used it and it was very difficult to coordinate holding the hoses and pump and actually pumping. Hoses tend to collapse even on gasoline. I suspect the hot weather had something to do with it. We ended up replacing the hose with a rubber fuel line on the suction side and it worked much better. I believe it was a 5/6 inch line. Being a bit stiffer made it easier to use. Work this way. The current is only active during pumping. If you are pumping a large volume of liquid I would try a different siphon. We removed about 12-15 gallons and that was quite a hassle. Often the exhaust hose popped out and sprayed gas everywhere, meaning lost pumps and effort.
