Did my job for Garage & Shop

Very useful when changing gear oil. Worked well enough but at the end of the bottle there was a problem pulling the remaining liquid from the hose into my gearbox so it all spilled. This is a disposable device. You don't want to store it as it will keep releasing liquid residue. I threw mine away but I'm still glad I had them for a transmission oil change.

Works well in tools and gear

I have this to drain fuel from my plane. The fuel tanks are in the wings, which are about 7 or 8 feet off the ground. I put the plastic canister of fuel on the ground and pumped the gasoline into the plastic canisters. The tubes were a little wrinkled from being in the packaging for so long, but I just squeezed them a little to open them. I had to hold the pump in front of me while the gas came out, but that's not the device's fault. eight-)

Pathetic Pump: Barrel & Hand Pumps

I had to pump out 1 pint of motor oil to make room for the additive. After two and a half hours I finally made it. the red suction hose is lousy (it keeps breaking). I had to shorten the red hose to 1" and then put the small black probe hose into the 1" red suction hose to make it work at all. According to the instructions, the oil can be changed with it - NO! After several hours of trying to drain half a liter of oil, I threw the pump in the trash.

Serves its purpose at a good price!

- Hand jack I used to transfer petrol from a snow blower or lawnmower to gas cylinders and back - If you're not careful you'll make a mess, make sure the hoses are secure are or you will spray gas everywhere. I also have an electric siphon, but that's limited to a short hose and a strong inlet end. It's EASIER, but it's a more flexible product in terms of its potential use in different situations. Good price when it was available at Revain and delivered quickly.

Some assembly required

I needed a pump to transfer gas from my 5 gallon tank to my car as it was nearing the end of its life. It worked fine for a few minutes, there was no leak, then the hose at the inlet fell out and went into the gas cylinder. I pulled it out but decided to epoxy the red hoses to the inlet/outlet sections of the pump. Also, after a week of cleaning, the pump dried out and was very difficult to pump. I solved this problem by taking the bottom black part off the big pump (which can also come looseโ€ฆ

Works but not suitable for pumping oil

It did what I needed but it took some work. I had a lawn mower engine that I accidentally overfilled. Instead of trying to drain the oil from the engine I figured it would be easier to pump it out. This pump did its job. However, the suction side pipe completely collapsed due to the viscosity of the 5W-30 oil I was pumping. To solve this problem I shortened the intake manifold to about 2" and used the crankcase drain tube that came with the 2" intake manifold in place of the full length pipeโ€ฆ

Simply good. for garage & shop

The pump gets three stars because it technically keeps what it promises. It pumps out the gas as described. However, it was quite hot and humid outside when we used it and it was very difficult to coordinate holding the hoses and pump and actually pumping. Hoses tend to collapse even on gasoline. I suspect the hot weather had something to do with it. We ended up replacing the hose with a rubber fuel line on the suction side and it worked much better. I believe it was a 5/6 inch line. Some of these reviews call it "useless". I confess that it didn't work at first, so I had to think it over. I drained 20W-50 and 10W-40 oil from my VW TDI engine. Of course, first make sure the oil is warm. The key was to trim the large orange tube as it tends to squash under inflationary pressures. There are now only a few inches between the pump and the adapter of the smaller black hose that goes to the oil pan. Cut it to the size you want - no longer oil passage and more friction thanโ€ฆ

It worked great!

At $10 that's a great deal! I bought this pump for a single purpose. I overfilled my TDI engine with oil and had to drain the excess oil. After calling a few oil change places it seemed to me that it would be easier to drain the excess oil if I had some sort of pump kit rather than driving to a quick oil change and having them remove the skids, drain plug etc. just as. half a liter of oil. When I found this little pump at Revain I figured ten bucks if it worked just once it would pay forโ€ฆ
