2010 Caddy SRX Door Opening Problem Fixed

These motors have a small electronic control unit that controls the motor and also controls whether the door is open or not. Ideally they should sell the control board separately and make the repair very easy as it can be easily unscrewed and removed with the motor in place. It is very difficult to replace just the motor, the screws that attach it to the window rail frame face the inside of the door and are Phillips head, they must be screw heads or hex head screws for ease of removal and installation. The problem is that there are no threaded holes for the screws in the motor housing, so they are VERY difficult to screw in. I tried threading with screws while the new motor was lying on my workbench prior to installation, the plastic is very hard. I've done this a few times, which warmed up the screws and helped soften the plastic, but when trying to install I couldn't put enough bits on the Phillips head to fully seat them. Finally I drilled the mounting holes in the frame and used the nuts in the frame, then I drilled holes for the motor bolts so I could put some 30mm bolts in the frame on the driver's side. It was a quick and easy solution that made assembly or disassembly of the engine a very quick and easy. I could have just replaced the control board in the motor but the motor was 11 years old so why build the motor later? The motor works well, it solved my problem with an open door and a window that didn't work. This would have been a very easy and quick fix if GM hadn't used soft head Phillips screws in the blind and tight spot.
