ORIGINAL REVIEW: Initially, this tool worked great right out of the box. However, after repeated use, I found that its ability to find studs wasn't very reliable. Here's an example: I find a hairpin in a certain area, and when I leave the same area and come back there (using the same mode), the scanner no longer detects the hairpin. Sometimes I get stable readings in the same place and sometimes not. Unfortunately for me this was a deal breaker as the purpose of this tool is to take the guesswork out of finding studs. The last thing to pay attention to is how hard you're pressing the scanner against the wall. If I press the tool firmly against the wall, I detect the bolt, but if I press the tool with a little less force than before, there is no detection. For this reason I try to keep the pressure neutral, but the issue adds another reason why I don't find this scanner reliable.
