As the outer rubber around the Otter Defender covers deteriorates over time I have to replace these covers every 6 months or so just to Get a new fuselage outer rubber part. I needed a new magnet so I can continue using my car phone holder and this item is very economical. The magnet is not as strong as the original magnet that came with the car phone mount, but it does the job. I will update if anything changes. UPDATE, after a few days of use I found that the magnet is very weak and my phone keeps falling. look elsewhere not the strongest magnet
