Just adequate battery life

I was disappointed with the battery life of these (2) 3500mAh 18V Ni-MH batteries. I've used them primarily in a Black & Decker leaf blower and only got about 1012 minutes of good (high speed) run time (about 14 minutes to medium speed), and that's while following the manufacturer's instructions on how to load and use a quality B&D -charger - and then tested 4 full charging cycles (because the supposed "optimal" charging capacity is only reached after 23 charging/discharging cycles). The 1012 good (high speed) minutes I get from each battery is at least very good. The fan spins very quickly and works well. Blow leaves and debris off a concrete road, sidewalk, etc. But I've gotten longer run times from other batteries, albeit at a slightly higher price. These (2) batteries are only $33 which is only $16.50 each, much less than B&D brand batteries. Let's see how they perform over time and update them here as needed. Just surprised at how great the reviews here are (4.6 stars!?) for the mediocre run time. Previous batteries I've had (B&D and other brands) with lower mAh ratings have lasted longer. typically 2050% longer, but at a slightly higher price. Please note that a pair of non-original batteries will not last long and will lose most of their original excellent performance after 6-12 months (used about once a week). Also, 1 of 2 batteries gets very hot after use. worried about a possible fire. There may be a manufacturing defect as there is a metallic clank when hitting something hard which I don't hear from any of my other 5 similar batteries so there is something loose or broken inside the battery that shouldn't be there.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Generally good, but...
