Luckily this thing has a calibration nut because it came in 5 degrees (Celsius) below accuracy. Too bad I didn't check before I ruined 3 batches of candy. Be sure to check your thermometers! I ordered 6" and 12" and both were cheaper by the same amount. The rest of the thermometer is fine. The clip is not bad. I like its design because it fits on a rimmed pan. At first I thought it would be difficult to read the numbers, but that's actually not the case when using the Celsius scale. The Fahrenheit scale is a bit more difficult to decipher.
