Not the most accurate in meat

I have a digital thermometer, but it's not good for heating oil. I bought it because of the short stem and bracket. I went to heat the oil to 375. I waited and thought it was too long. I used a digital one and it read 425. This thermometer never went above 350. And the dial is not that easy to read. Small Numbers. This thing is useless. And it's too easy to make a decent paperweight. Maybe I'll use for the account holder. Wait. I do everything online so it's useless anyway.

  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Good deal for two thermometers!

The accuracy of this pair of thermometers appears to be accurate. You get a meat thermometer and a frying thermometer. They both work fine. The dial of a meat thermometer is a bit difficult to read. I had to wear glasses and used a flashlight to illuminate the dial so I could read. The frying thermometer stays cool enough to touch. A meat thermometer is probably as hot as the temperature you're cooking at, so I'd use an oven mitt for that. That's a good deal for two thermometers and I would…

  • Very impressive

Thermometer Arrived 5 Degrees (C) Wrong

Luckily this thing has a calibration nut because it came in 5 degrees (Celsius) below accuracy. Too bad I didn't check before I ruined 3 batches of candy. Be sure to check your thermometers! I ordered 6" and 12" and both were cheaper by the same amount. The rest of the thermometer is fine. The clip is not bad. I like its design because it fits on a rimmed pan. At first I thought it would be difficult to read the numbers, but that's actually not the case when using the Celsius scale. The…

Do not buy, absolutely not recommended.

I don't recommend it, it doesn't work, and worse, there's no way to contact them for warranty etc. First, the glass fogs up from the inside and makes it impossible to read. This happens when you use it, and when you don't use it, the fog disappears. There seems to be a few drops of water that evaporate during use and fog up the glass. Second, the dial is always at 100 degrees when not in use, while taking a reading of 50 degrees and up. The fact that it broke within 2-3 months after only a few…

Love these 6 inch fryer thermometers

I already had a KT Thermo 12 inch fryer thermometer that read 10 degrees off. Checked on another thermos + laser heat gun, which converged. Easy to calibrate KT Thermo. There is a small nut under the dial. Slightly grasp the nut with pliers and turn the outer main edge of the thermos to the right or left to move the needle according to the accuracy. The red outer arrow also slides. After setting up a 12" fryer, I bought a set of two 6" models for my Fry Daddy + Hamiton Beach Dep Fryers fryer…

  • great selection

  • sad packaging

Good thermometer but may need calibrating

I bought this thermometer because I was tired of holding a digital thermometer over a pan of hot oil to check the temperature while frying. Also, I wanted something that could sit in the pot so I could easily see the temperature at all times. This thermometer definitely does that, and it's the perfect size for a Dutch oven type pan or similar size (in height) - I was considering a 12" but am glad I settled on a 6" " have decided. The thermometer is great, easy to read and I love the included…

One is off by more than 50 degrees, the other by 5*f

I was using one the other day and my oil started smoking and I added some fries to cook and realized something was wrong. I grabbed my digital thermope gauge and the oil was 425f but the thermometer read 350. I wasn't happy, I took another one and it read very close to 425. After reading how to set it, I tested both in boiling water with no adjustment and both read around 210-215 so it's pretty close and accurate. However, I found something was wrong with one of them, so I went to my oil fryer…
