My first oil stone, it came from the manufacturer flat on both sides and filled with at least a decent amount of oil. It comes in a box with oil stains on the inside, so there are signs of pre-lubrication. Putting oil on an Indian stone takes a very long time to soak in oil, unlike the gray Kristallon I bought later. Crystolon soaks up oil like a dried sponge. That means you have more time to work with Indian stone and a nice oil sheen to blow the lawn. Basically, it's ready to use!
