You can first remove the old generator and remove this decoupling disc from the shaft. My mistake was that the alternator shaft was too worn to accept the new pulley and my attempts to install it resulted in it breaking. My air wrench wasn't set that high, but the shaft was bad. So I spent money on a broken pulley. It wasn't bad quality. I just had to remove the old alternator and then remove the old pulley to see if this pulley would fit. As a result, I bought a used generator with a working pulley. It would save me hours if I did it first. It's still a good product. It's just that my old generator sucked.
