I have a 2000 S10 ZR2 and the Check Engine light has been on for several years. I've visited several stores and they all have different ideas of what it could be. But it was a list that could contain more than I was willing to pay for. I was willing to take it to the dealer and have them check it out. The truck would have worked fine, but then I happened to read a thread about how simply replacing the gas cap on this model can often fix the problem and assumed that with the codes we are getting, that would be the first step. So I bought an OEM, GM gas cap. After installing it I unplugged the battery and then plugged it back in as suggested in the thread, this will reset the computer/codes. The truck now runs smoothly and no Check Engine light is on. Can't wait to tell the guys at the store where I usually go what the problem was. It was just luck.
