phenomenal product

I was looking for an ultra-wide monitor that wouldn't break the bank, and I encountered a sea of compromises. Everything in my budget was either too small, didn't have a curve, or had a slower refresh rate. When I saw the Viotek GN35DR I almost thought it was too good to be true. I've never heard of the company, I did some digging into their history. They seem to have made a splash at this year's CES with their latest line of displays. Their headquarters are in Indiana. The monitor is manufactured with the Samsun VA display panel. So far, so good. The GN35DR meets many requirements. 144Hz, ultra-wide screen, and freesync were on my wish list (thanks to Nvidia's recent freesync rollout). It seemed like my biggest compromise was resolution. Coming from a 32-inch 1440p display that only ran at 60Hz. I've decided I can live with that. Since I have what can be described as an "upper mid-range" PC, I was thinking of going to 1080p, but ultrawide would be a more acceptable resolution for my system, allowing games to be run at higher frame rates and settings closer to the maximum. couple of videos on youtube. My biggest questions related to the Freesync window and LFC (Low Frame Rate Compensation). When I researched Freesync displays, I found out that they exist at all. Essentially, the window is the range of frame rates that Freesync even operates over. If your framerate falls below the window, Freesync will stop working. However, some monitors have LFC. This means if your freesync range is say 48-144Hz and your framerate drops to 40fps, the display simply doubles the refresh rate to 80Hz, which allows freesync to keep running. Since I couldn't find this information online, I called Viotek directly. A representative named Ryan took my call and after a short wait was able to tell me everything I needed to know. The GN35DR has a 48-144Hz freesync window and supports LFC (like all Viotek displays apparently). Big! Not only does the display do what I want, the support for the phone has been excellent. A good sign in case I should have problems after the purchase. With all this information, I pulled the trigger. It's delivery day! When I unpacked the display, I immediately thought how massive this screen is. Viotek's Stance is what they call "Rage Defense". Yes, it's very strong, but it's also quite deep, so keep that in mind if you have a flat table. The kit includes an adapter bracket to mount the display to a VESA 75x75 wall mount and I'll probably be doing it myself soon. Here comes the moment of truth. I connected the included DisplayPort cable to my GTX 1080 and booted it up. I've heard a lot about how exciting an ultrawide display can be, and those stories were true! The curve is very satisfied, the picture is beautiful and bright, and everything looked great! My next step was to enable freesync. After enabling Freesync in the monitor's OSD, I enabled the correct settings in the GeForce display properties. After making sure everything was working, I launched Anthem.Mind. I have Blown.Anthem that keeps crashing at 40-70 fps. This used to lead to horrific image tears and jerking. Everything is gone. It's just that the game runs so smoothly now. Then I ran the whole scale. Apex, World of Warcraft, Doom, Destiny 2 and Tomb Raider looked incredible. And my prayers to the gods with no dead pixels seems to have worked. The display is perfect. Also, it appears to be fully compatible with Nvidia GPUs that support Freesync. Can you get a better ad? Probably. Of course there are monitors with higher resolutions, more brightness and features like HDR. But they cost double if not more than the GN35DR. But you won't find a better deal for a quality product in this price range. Viotek has a new customer. Great product and great customer service. If you're looking to dive into ultra-wide gaming, this is a great place to start.
