These gauges have a good full/empty response when used with a good gauge. But there are problems with the instructions. First, it's 1/4" from the bottom of the bracket. Just mount it flush with the end of the bracket. If you leave that 1/4" overhang, you can't get it into the 1-1/2". -Fit hole in tank also moving down only helps for correct half reading (half depth + 1/2" bracket cut guide is correct). The lid only closes in one position and the instructions say the mount can be rotated every 90 degrees I would like to add that you can easily rotate the mount to get any intermediate angle. You may need to do this to clear the tank's inner baffle to allow the float arm to rotate at the "cat angle" for maximum clearance.
