Health restored! in Extension Bits

From the moment I got out of bed to the moment I went to bed, I was struck by an alarmingly loud creaking sound with EVERY step I took. It makes me crazy! Once I bought it and installed it CORRECTLY as intended, my sanity was instantly restored! Since the whole floor creaked (an 8x8 room with carpet) I decided to screw the whole floor and do it the first time. I started using duct tape every 16 inches to position the joists (2nd photo) but quickly realized there was a quicker way using rope (1st photo). The key for me was to start in a corner and place the joists along the length of the room. was my process to find the position of the bars. This method eliminated any floor creaks and my sanity was restored. 1. Find out which direction the bars are going. My house is rectangular so the joists are usually short, at 16 inch intervals. .2. Starting at the wall of the room that connects to the short side of the house, I measured 16 inches from the corner wall and began tapping with a hammer to find a solid or punch. A hard pop means you've found the beam. .3. Based on that, I used a no-tool screw and put my weight on the drill. If you miss the beam, the screw under the drill will give way and "push" it into the hole. Beam that grips the screw and resists to the max. I left 1/2 inch of the screw open.4. Once I found a stud that was exactly 16" from the wall, I measured 16" from that screw along the wall and repeated this process every 16" along the opposite wall. Wall wrapped around the screw and made the mesh. 6. Using the tool provided, I inserted screws every 2 feet along the string, hitting the beam each time. it's in the ground because it doesn't help the squeak and just a wasted screw. They're pretty expensive. Hope everyone has the same success as me!
