Description of Squeeeeek No More Counter Snap for Joists - Starter Pack Kit (Part # 3154)

The Counter-Snap package includes 50 scored screws, a snap off fixture, a square headed driver bit and complete instructions. We designed the Counter-Snap screws for between the joist to have thread in both boards at the same time. The joist screw won't work between the joist (try O' Berry's 3236) because the separation of thread is greater than the thichness of the hardwood flooring and the subfloor.

Well designed and easy to use!

Well designed and easy to use! Worked like a champ on my 84 year old hardwood floors. It's important to understand that there are a number of reasons why hardwood floors can creak. Seems obvious but based on some of the negative reviews I've read I think some people were misinformed. But these special screws fix or reduce squeaks resulting from loose nails in joists or sloppiness in high traffic areas that require tightening on joists. Between the delays, various fixes all creak together.

Works best with extensions

I bought this kit and another kit to install between the floor joists. Very positive results using only a strong magnet and a long 7/64" drill bit. Squeaks are reduced by 90-95%. As others have said you need to understand why hardwood floors creak, mainly due to the nails holding the subfloor to the ground, the joists lift over time and rub under each step. These screws drive the planks and subfloor back into the floor Beams, eliminating friction that causes the creaking. If you have friction…

as described for Screwdriver Bits

As seen in the picture this is what you get, I saw it on the DIY U-Tube video that sold me and also because the squeaks in the house has led my cousin is crazy. This one works best with linoleum but my advice would be to watch a video on U-Tube first explaining how to use it and then I'm afraid call an expert to get the job done. (As of 4/29/2020 I have used this product in linoleum and it works, but first find the studs in the floor because if you miss them you will have to tap on the side to…

Works better for me than the shorter version

I bought a box of shorter screws that weren't specifically labeled for joists. I kept hammering them in and never saw any improvement in the squeak, just a few holes. On the advice of a friend, I bought this set and got significantly better results. It's not clear why, but I suspect the extra length was necessary for my floor configuration, and the shorter ones just didn't catch the beam. Unfortunately, the instructions for both this pack and the other were very unclear. Even YouTube videos…

Works great - power tool parts and accessories

50 screws - sounds like a lot but I screwed all 50 into the creaky floor of a 140 square foot room. Now most of the most annoying squeaks and squeaks are gone. Pretty easy, but you'll need to work with two screwdrivers: one for drilling with a 1/8" center drill and the other with a square drive bit for screwing. Otherwise, you'll have to change places all day. while focusing on the beam. Pros: Works great most of the time. About every tenth time I had to tap the receiver to break the head, even

No more creaking stairs! (not even framed below)

So these screws work pretty well if you fully understand how they work and don't expect more than what they were designed for. I used them on a curved staircase that has no frame at the bottom. I installed self tapping screws through the tread into the riser underneath as that was the source of my squeaking. As I pushed down with each step, I felt it bend up and down, and it creaked every time I did it. in the riser) and stood on the step, pressing on it with my weight while turning the screw…

Health restored! in Extension Bits

From the moment I got out of bed to the moment I went to bed, I was struck by an alarmingly loud creaking sound with EVERY step I took. It makes me crazy! Once I bought it and installed it CORRECTLY as intended, my sanity was instantly restored! Since the whole floor creaked (an 8x8 room with carpet) I decided to screw the whole floor and do it the first time. I started using duct tape every 16 inches to position the joists (2nd photo) but quickly realized there was a quicker way using rope…

Squeak Elimination - Power & Hand Tools

I live in a 66 year old house and have successfully stopped the squeaks myself in most key areas. I couldn't stop the two creaks because they were right between the joists. All in all, bars really work once you find them! I had to use more screws than I did and to avoid squeaking I needed more. While these screws can be "fabulous", I decided against them because I wanted to minimize the holes in the floor. I gave these screws 5 stars because they served their purpose; They stopped every…
