I like this chess. This is WAY better than the super cheap set I used. It's big, the mat stays flat and rolls up easily to store in a tube, and the grid of numbers and letters helps me finally learn how to play the game. I paid $17 and the stuff is good quality for the price, easy to travel and a good size. The board needs some airing, but the smell wasn't a big issue for me. The cardboard tube is handy and the end caps are made of metal. The strap is a narrow strap of thick plastic riveted to cardboard. He seems strong for what he is. I'm not sure how long it will stay intact, but I don't actually travel with it, so it shouldn't break anytime soon. I'm glad I chose this set.
